£1.4 million annual energy savings for multi-national retail brand
Overview
Prime Controls has delivered the roll-out of wireless lighting controls technology across 40 sites for one of the UK’s best-known home improvement retailers.
The company has a long-term commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including a formal target to reach net zero for operational emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 2040. This aligns with its parent company’s broader net-zero commitment for operations.

Our solution
The project objective was to unlock additional energy savings across the estate following the successful completion of an LED retrofit in 2022. Our turnkey solution, including upgraded LED drivers and full BMS integration, was designed to deliver a further layer of measurable energy reduction.
The project was delivered in three phases:
Stage 1. Design concept & trial sites:
We developed a complete solution within four weeks, incorporating new LED drivers, a custom bracket design, and BMS integration. Works were completed within four weeks for the first two trial stores, with 380 fittings installed and commissioned per site.
Stage 2. Roll-out:
Following the successful trial phase, the solution was deployed across a further 17 stores.
Stage 3. Additional roll-out:
Building on the success of Stage 2, the programme was expanded. We have now upgraded 40 sites.
Outcomes
